About Me

It’s Good To Meet You!

If you’ve been wondering more about what made me put pen to paper and start writing… or more aptly put finger to keyboard and start tapping away, this is the section for you.

The truth is that this is a blog about dreams, a blog about hope, a blog about ambition…. but more than that it’s a blog about real life.

If someone had sat me down in my idealistic university days, and told me just how hard it was to create a life that actually works – I probably wouldn’t have believed them. I was young, I was passionate, I believed firmly that everything was possible. I had no doubts about the way my life would work out.

And then life happened. Real life.

There have been twists, turns and more than a few bumps along the road, and I’m sure before the road ends there will be far more of those to come.

Let’s just say my life hasn’t quite worked out the way my younger self imagined…

I may be fast nearing 40, but I’m still idealistic, I’m still passionate, and I still believe in the impossible.

I do, however, no longer have any idea how my life will turn out.

This blog is about creating that life; whether it’s school, home, family, food or travel I’ll be sharing our journey – along with a few (hopefully) helpful tips along the way.

I’m Emily, by the way, a teacher, a mum and a woman in my own right. Though admittedly sometimes I need a little nudge to remember the last one. I’m also a dyslexic who studied English at Cambridge… I’ve always thrived off challenge. I love baking and Disney, and when it comes to making learning fun – I am your woman.

My Other Half is Spanish, a Scientist, a brilliant dad and step-dad, who is passionate about his heritage. He likes travelling and good food; he’s also one incredible cleaner!

Laura is twelve, in her first year of secondary school and proud to be Autistic. She is an incredible big sister, who loves to cook – when I look at her, I often wonder why I worried so much when she was a toddler. She is nothing short of incredible and meets every challenge that comes her way head on.

Juan, now almost three has rocked our lives from the moment he entered the world. He is our risk taker; full of fun and energy, with a laugh that can’t help but make you want to join in. He’s an escapologist, who’s hard to keep in one place, and the best cuddler in the world.

Together we’re a bilingual English/ Spanish Family, who are trying to have it all. We’re raising our children to be people who care, people who want to make a difference and above all people who believe in their power to do so.

We’re creating a life that works for us, and hopefully showing you that you can too.

Why not join us for the ride?
